Alright, that headline is a bit premature. But I can’t help being excited about the rookie quarterback for the Carolina Panthers. To put it bluntly, rookie quarterbacks usually suck. Cam Newton hasn’t sucked. In fact, he’s been pretty darn awesome.

Even though the Panthers are 0-2, it hasn’t been Cam Newton’s fault. In Week 1, he had 422 passing yards and three touchdowns. In Week 2, he had 432 passing yards and two touchdowns. His fast start has shattered numerous records and has Panthers fans believing once again.

While Cam Newton being big, strong and fast has helped him, his most impressive trait so far in his young NFL career has been his poise. He’s able to sit in the pocket and make the right decision … time after time. That is a trait that usually takes years for quarterbacks to master.

We’ll see if Cam Newton can keep it up. I know I’ll be watching. Will you?
